From 11 to 13 November 2018, the European Space Agency (ESA) invites you to Frascati (Rome), Italy for the 1st Φ-Week Bootcamp. Organised by Design & Data for ESA, the aim is to generate new space startups using earth observation (EO) data linking to the food and energy sectors.
The first INNOspace Weekend was a great success. 65 participants attended from over 17 countries and a mix of backgrounds. For many, this cultural and interdisciplinary diversity contributed to the success of the event and to the development of many innovative and groundbreaking business ideas.
In a new and ambitious project, we are excited to have launched ‘Bake In Space’, which seeks to address the scientific and technical challenges relating to the production of fresh bread in space. Design & Data has formed a subsidiary company under the same name.
Since we launched the concept of ‘Spaceoneers’ we have been interacting with the new space community, to find out how startup founders got started, what motivates them and what trends and technologies they think will affect their business models in the near future. After a successful test phase, we are pleased to reveal the new design of our site.
Design & Data is excited to launch a new website. “Spaceoneers” takes a look at space pioneers – those who have pushed the boundaries of what is technically possible in the space sector, as well as the startups and new technologies that are set to disrupt the sector even further.
It is already a reality in North America. As part of the NewSpace movement, many young startup companies bring innovative ideas to the space sector and with those innovative ideas come advancements in this interesting and promising sector. “This topic has not reached Europe yet.”, says Sebastian D. Marcu. But the CEO of Cologne-based, Design & Data, is sure that “within the next months and years something great will happen here”. The movement has started successfully with the first StartupWeekend Space in Bremen for which the communications expert acted as co-lead.
